International Research Grants for Women

International fellowship scholarships are awarded to women who are not US citizen or permanent residents. The fellowship support both graduate and postgraduate study at accredited institutions.

Six awards are given to the members of International Federation of University Women. These fellowship owners may study in any country apart from their own.

The supporting documents must be postmarked with dates. If the application postmark deadline falls on a weekend or on a holiday then the supporting document postmark date should be the next business day.

The eligibility for this grants are:

• You should be a citizen of a country other than US or you should have a nonimmigrant visa if you are residing in US.
• You must complete an academic degree that is equivalent to bachelor’s degree from US College or university.
• You must intend to give enough time that is required for academic purpose during the fellowship year.
• You must intend to return to your home country for pursuing your professional career.

A panel of scholars is appointed who go through the selection procedure by the AAUW. The final award selection is made by the directors of the board and the awardees have to have some criteria. They should have a sound academic and professional qualification.

The applicant’s commitment in the advancement of women or girls in her home country should be well demonstrated by the work that she has done and the research she takes up.

She also must have documented evidence that she has taken up prior community or civic service in her home country and these works should particularly be in the improvement of women in her country.

The quality and the feasibility of the proposed plan of study or research and the proposed time schedule is also something that determines whether the applicant would receive the grant.

If the proposed plan of study is something that does not match with the kind of work the organization wants to do then the application cannot get through.

The applicant should have a planned or confirmed place of work after she returns to her home country. She should also be proficient in English which is again a must. The applicant must be in financial need of the aid. This scholarship given to women is a measure to see to it that women get their dues from the society.
